The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien
The Fellowship of the Ring, the first book in the Lord of the Rings trilogy by J. R. R. Tolkien, starts off the adventure of Frodo Baggins, the nephew of Bilbo Baggins who once found a mysterious ring on his adventure to fight a dragon and help some dwarves get their home back. As Frodo discovers, the ring is much more than he realized. It's actually dangerous and needs to be destroyed. It was made by Sauron, and can only be used for evil purposed. And having been made by Sauron, it can only be destroyed by throwing it into the lava in Mount Doom where it was created. So how will little Frodo, a hobbit, get it all the way to Mordor where Mount Doom is? Well, when his friends volunteer to help him, along with a dwarf, an elf, and two humans, Frodo just might have a fighting chance! Fellowship of the Ring was first published in 1954.
